1. Overview
Racepace is an indie iOS app for canoe and kayak paddlers, currently in private preview. It is developed by Drew as a personal project.
The app connects to your Garmin Connect account to read paddle activity data and uses it to show your progress, rankings, and insights. This policy explains what data we access, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Data We Use
When you connect your Garmin Connect account, we access:
- Activity metadata: activity type, date/time, duration, distance, pace, speed.
- Performance metrics (where available): heart rate, power, cadence, stroke rate.
- GPS route (if location is enabled on your device).
- Basic identifiers: Garmin user ID and optional display name.
We may also collect basic device and usage information (device type, OS version, crash reports) to keep the app running.
We do not sell your personal data.
3. How We Use Data
- To show your paddling progress, rankings, and insights.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app.
- To respond to support requests.
4. Garmin Connection & Control
When you connect Garmin, you are redirected to Garmin’s own authorisation flow. We never receive or store your Garmin password.
You can disconnect Garmin at any time inside the Racepace app via Settings.
Once disconnected, no new data is imported. Previously synced data remains until you request deletion.
Requesting Data Deletion
Email racepacedrew@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my data” and the email address on your account. We will remove or anonymise your identifiable data. We may retain limited information where required by law.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Microsoft Azure. We use:
- HTTPS/TLS encryption for data in transit.
- Azure’s built-in encryption for data at rest.
- Azure API Management to protect backend access.
Data on your iPhone benefits from Apple’s iOS platform security. No system can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the size of the app.
